Why Do We Refer To An Emergency Center After Hours?

Emergencies happen day or night and some can be life threatening if not addressed in a very short order of time.  We believe the best care that we can provide for our patients is to refer our after hour emergencies to the emergency centers listed above for the following reasons:

The Emergency Veterinary Service and the Animal Emergency Center are the only two practices in Southeastern Wisconsin that are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This means that their doctors and staff work in shifts so that they are not tired or overworked any time of day or night.

A life-threatening emergency may only have minutes to spare to stabilize a patient.  The above emergency centers can provide the immediate care required.  If our doctors and staff have to be called in for a life-threatening emergency, it may take up to 20 to 30 minutes before our team arrives - extra minutes that may make the difference between life and death for your pet.

Lastly, would you want your pet to undergo a surgical or dental procedure when the doctor has been up all night taking care of emergencies?  Of coarse not!  We want to provide your pet with the best possible care and that means that our doctors and staff are well rested when they see you.
