Our doctors are fully licensed by the State of Wisconsin and accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture.  We have five doctors on staff at New Berlin Animal Hospital:  Dr. Hermann (University of Minnesota, 1989), Dr. Ibsen (Iowa State University, 1969),  Dr. Sobon (University of Wisconsin, 2002), Dr. Shearburn (University of Wisconsin, 2006), and Dr. Peterson (University of Wisconsin, 2004).

Our hospital and doctors are active members in the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, the Waukesha Veterinary Medical Association, and the Milwaukee Veterinary Medical Association.  In addition,  Dr. Hermann was president for 1996, of the Waukesha Veterinary Medical Association.  Dr. Shearburn was president of the ethics and shelter animal clubs while attending the University of Wisconsin. 

Besides the above organizations, Dr. Hermann is also an active member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Wildlife Veterinarians, the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians and the Association for Veterinary Informatics.  Dr. Sobon is also an active member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians and the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians.  Dr. Shearburn is also an active member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

New Berlin Animal Hospital has a strong community commitment.  New Berlin Animal Hospital supports many community organizations including the New Berlin Athletic Association, New Berlin Public School programs, the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce, and the initial sponsor of the Veterinary Medicine Explorer Post of Waukesha County.   Dr. Hermann's past associations include a member of the Board of Directors and President for the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce's Education Committee, a board member of the Education for Employment Council for the New Berlin Public Schools, and a member of the Information & Technology Committee for the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association.  Dr. Hermann was given the New Berlin Chamber of Commerce's Business Person of the Year Award in 1998, for his efforts in the community.

Lastly, New Berlin Animal Hospital is a member of the Veterinary Information Network and NOAA.   Through the use of computers, we are able to be in contact with over 1500 veterinarians around the world including many researchers at universities via the Internet.  This provides up to date information regarding new medical, diagnostic, and surgical techniques for all species of animals.
